Outcomes - Public Meetings

ARENA COMPLEX HOURS:

Appreciate the decision made last night by the Nakina Curling Club to respond to the residents who want to gather at the complex as a meeting place. In the absence of a restaurant, this is a good example of how a community can pull together to help each other.

I will be highlighting on Monday, the need for the municipal staff to carefully review how municipal leases, community input in to the hours of operation of our sports complexes, and improved programming support, are all necessary to make the best use of our facilities.

Following up on this post, changes to the hours of operation will occur for the balance of the season. I expect that a focus on programming will result in better utilization. This was reviewd at length during the Recreation meeting I attended Monday afternoon prior to our regular Council meeting.

WINDROW SERVICES:

Windrow services for eligible residents will continue. I asked that the original motion to cease the service be withdrwn which Council voted in favour of. In a request for a recorded vote which I called, the vote on the motion to include a $50 fee was narrowly defeated in a 4-4 tie.
